Just like anyone, Tucker and I are setting some goals for the new year. Its important to us to have goals to make sure we are continuing to grow and evolve over the years. Our goals are like most around new financial goals and living a healthy lifestyle.
For me, I’ll be working on some financial goals and health goals, that are especially being propelled by my new engagement status! So this year I’ll be working on:
- Investing more of my money – so I can let it be doing the work for me. I feel like I have been very much a novice investor over the last few years and its worked out. However, when I see and hear the success stories of other women saving for thousands for retirement by my same age, I know there must be something more I can be doing, so educating myself on this more is top of mind.
- Saving! – My fiancée and I recently talked budget and given our lifestyle and the people we are, we want a nice wedding with good food, photos and flowers, so we aren’t talking anything crazy here, but we have some saving to do. I’m already getting my spreadsheets for tracking started and I can almost hear the groans from my fiancée as I whip up one more excel spreadsheet to manage our lives.
- Getting fit – I feel like this is on my list every year and every year I start strong and slowly fall off the wagon. Though maybe this year is the year, with upcoming wedding dress fittings and seeing the scale hit a new number (one I haven’t seen before) I think it’ll be the perfect motivation to get healthy.
As for Tucker, he has a few goals (that I helped him pick) for this year too:
- Getting fit – Between my return to office policy and the plethora of treats around the house, Tucker managed to pack on a whole 10 pounds between annual vet visits this year (yikes!). Even though I would just say he is “family fit” our vet thinks it would be great for him to slim down a just a touch. So more portion control and more walks for both of us!
- Getting more comfortable with the vet – In addition to the recent weight gain discussed at the vet, we also continue to realize that Tucker hates the vet. It probably has something to do with the fact that at least once a year he gets an infection or gets into mischief and we find ourselves at the emergency vet, but doesn’t mean I want him to be anxious while we are there. So, we’ll be making a few “fun” visits to the vet to get more comfortable with the space and on the plus side, we can go in and check his weight while we are there!
- Refresher on some of our training – Finally, I’ll be looking to do some refresher training with Tucker. When I first got him as a puppy in 2020, like so many other pandemic puppies, I was heads down focused on training. There wasn’t a lot else to do with the shut down and Tucker was a high energy rambunctious puppy with dinosaur sharp teeth to say the least, so training was our daily focus. However over the years our training has fallen by the wayside and its time to pick it up again, so we’ll be doing some at home training and if I get ambitious enough, we may even go to train and test for his good canine citizen test – wish us luck, we’ll need it!
These goals will be plenty for us and definitely will be a lot to stay on top of over the coming months, but maybe sharing here will be just the motivation we need to keep going, maybe its you all that will keep us accountable and if you have goals, we’d love to hear them and we’d be happy to help keep you accountable!
Whatever your new year brings, we wish you all a happy and peaceful new year!
